Boot Camp

Summer Math SEAL Boot Camp

The Math SEAL Boot Camp (MSBC) helps prepare kids aged 9-13 for success in math and life. MSBC features a math teaching methodology which uses music to increase student cognitive involvement, relying less on rote memory skills and more on associative problem solving. Students will work to master exponents and the order of operations that tells us the right order in which to solve different parts of a math problem. The order of operations is so important during the upper elementary and middle school level and students have so much difficulty. MSBC student cadets will learn in an environment which includes team building in a small interactive class environment (three student maximum per class) from the convenience of home.

Here’s what MSBC alum parents have to say about the program:

“I noticed you’ve been able to keep my son’s attention!”

“I highly recommend it! It makes learning math fun.”

Enrollment period: Now- July 7th (spaces are limited as each class is limited to three students so please apply asap!)

MSBC program dates:

  • June 26-29, 2023
  • July 17-20, 2023
  • July 24-27, 2023
  • July 31- Aug. 3, 2023

Each session is held online from 9:00am – 12:00pm.

More About Summer Boot Camp

Summer Math Boot Camp will help your kid recover the learning missed during the COVID pandemic. Dr. Tenickia Polk, an award-winning expert in the field of math intervention, and a Christian counselor directs this exciting and very productive program.

Small virtual classes of no more than three students will be used during the course to provide individualized instruction and knowledge acquisition. Essential abilities for elementary and middle school mathematics, such as exponents and the sequence of operations, will be emphasized using music and special education strategies.

We accept VA K-12 Learning Acceleration Grants as part of our effort to make this program available to everyone. Scholarships are also offered to help ensure that cost is not a barrier to participation.

As part of our all-encompassing curriculum, we mail students a Bootcamp Kit loaded with engaging exercises and manipulatives to foster learning and retention. Chat and Chew sessions are 15-minute daily chances for students to engage in meaningful self-discovery and mentoring conversations.

The traditional school system may not be the best option of recovering your kid’s learning from the covid pandemic.  The MSBC offers an effective alternative to help get your kid on the right track.

Our former Math SEAL Boot Camp students have gone on to incredible success and personal development. Three cadets were awarded Math SEAL badges of honor, and one cadet improved their assessment results by a whopping 255%! One parent noted, “I noticed you’ve been able to keep my son’s attention!”. The program features:

  • High dosage tutoring- small class size with a limit of three students
  • Bootcamp Kit of manipulatives and activities included
  • Daily thought-provoking Chat and Chew sessions
  • 4 days, 12 hours of high-quality small-group instruction

A portion of the VA K-12 Learning Acceleration Grants must be used by August 15, 2023 by approved tutors so don’t pass up this opportunity to help your kid go ahead in mathematics. Get them enrolled in my Summer Math Boot Camp right now and witness their mathematical confidence soar.

Tuition:   $750 per student cadet

VA K-12 Learning Acceleration Grants accepted (payment made to Dr. Tenickia Polk on ClassWallet)!

Math Common Core Standards addressed:

CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.5.OA.A.1– Use parentheses, brackets, or braces in numerical expressions, and evaluate expressions with these symbols.

CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.6.EE.A.1– Write and evaluate numerical expressions involving whole-number exponents.

CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.6.EE.A.2.C– Evaluate expressions at specific values of their variables. Include expressions that arise from formulas used in real-world problems. Perform arithmetic operations, including those involving whole-number exponents, in the conventional order when there are no parentheses to specify a particular order (Order of Operations). For example, use the formulas V = s3 and A = 6 s2 to find the volume and surface area of a cube with sides of length s = 1/2.

The Math SEAL Boot Camp features:

  • Guaranteed small class sizes for enhanced intervention and instruction
  • MSBC kit of manipulatives and activities mailed to the students home prior to class to make learning more engaging and effective
  • 15 minute Chat and Chew thought-provoking self-discovery/mentorship sessions each day
  • Bonus tutoring session that can be scheduled during the school year.
